An even first few innings to the game saw the Brewers jump out to a 6-1 lead in the middle of the 3rd inning before the Vikings came back.

Some consistent base-hitting through the entire order, in the home half of the 3rd, saw six different scorers got the Vikings back into the game at 8-6.

A double from debutante Katie Bradshaw was put away by Dave Fuller to extend the lead to 9-6 after 4. With solid pitching from both mounds, including a first start from Paul Windmill, both teams had to scrape and take advantage of the tall grass of no-mow May.

Several base knocks were capitalised on in the 5th as both Scott Summers and Paul hit 2-run singles to extend the lead to 5 going into the top of the 6th.

The Brewers drew back to 13-10 and it looked like we were in for a close finale. However, Andi Bambeck came up clutch with a 2-out Grand Slam to set the target of 7 to bat again in the top of the 7th.

The Brewers hit valiantly and managed to score 6 before Kathryn Hewson snagged the final fly-ball out in left-field to seal the game at 17-16.

We played out the 7th as we had good light which saw Dave Fuller score his first career Home Run, and Katie Bradshaw score her first RBI on debut.
